We are delighted to announce that Charlie Tear will return to West Chiltington & Thakeham CC in 2026!
Charlie returns to his boyhood club as a full international, having represented Scotland in both ODI and T20I cricket. In 2022, Charlie signed his first professional contract with Sussex CCC, becoming the first professional cricketer to emerge from our fantastic youth setup.
At the time of writing, Charlie has played 20 ODIs and 8 T20Is for Scotland, with his highest score of 80 coming in an ODI against Nepal in June 2025.
2025 was an incredible year for Teary at county level too, where he recorded his maiden List A century against Northamptonshire. Charlie struck 23 fours and 2 sixes on his way to 159 from just 146 balls – the highest individual score for Sussex against Northamptonshire in List A cricket.
Then came the big one – perhaps Charlie’s crowning moment of last summer – a monumental 317* for Sussex 2nd XI against Leicestershire 2nd XI. Opening the batting, Charlie’s 403-ball innings featured 38 fours and 3 sixes, setting a record individual score for Sussex in the 2nd XI County Championship and the third-highest score in the competition’s history.
Following our promotion to the Sussex Premier League for the first time in the club’s history, we are incredibly excited to welcome back one of our own to his boyhood club. Everyone at West Chilt cannot wait to see Charlie back in action at the Rec.
Welcome home, Teary 💚💛
