The Club is very saddened to learn the news that Peter "Basher" Bullock, the last captain of Thakeham CC, passed away last month after a short illness. Post merger, he played as a middle order batsman in the first WCTCC 1st XI alongside such names as Chambers, Chaloner, Hennings, Fitzgerald and his good friend, Neil Miller. After hanging up his pads, Peter continued to play tennis at West Chilt on the other side of the Rec where he could be found until quite recently.

A real sporting all rounder, Peter was fundamentally a rugby player. He was a combative scrum half who played to a high standard for Northampton, Birmingham and Blackheath. He also toured extensively overseas and played at Twickenham.

Peter loved dressing up, enjoyed crosswords and was also in a choir until last summer. He leaves behind Jo and his three lads. His first grandchild was remarkably also born on Monday. We'll miss his deep belly laugh and a smile that could light up any room.
