Ashay Palkar signs for West Chilt!

We're delighted to announce that our overseas player for the 2025 season will be Ashay Palkar.

Ashay is quite the cricketer with an interesting story. Having played for Mumbai at Under-19 and Under-22 level and rubbing shoulders with some of Mumbai’s greats, he decided to pursue an MBA from Mumbai University and didn’t play competitive cricket for nearly four years. It was only after graduation did Ashay start to consider a return to professional cricket.

He went on to play for Maharashtra and his first-class debut came in November 2018. Following COVID, Ashay enjoyed yet another strong Ranji season in 22/23, taking 20 wickets at 26.20, and to evidence is all-round ability, 421 runs at 52.62 including his maiden century (100). He was one of only five players that averaged 50 plus and took 20 wickets in Ranji Trophy cricket that season.

Ashay has excelled in UK league cricket having spent three seasons over here, initially for Clayton West (2021-22) in the Huddersfield League, before his last season with Potterne (2023) in the West of England Premier League.

Ashay is a right-hand fast-medium bowler and a right-hand bat.

He will be travelling over in mid to late April with his wife and as well as playing for our First XI he will help with coaching our 3rd and 4th XI on Thursday evenings.

All at WCTCC would like to extend a warm welcome to Ashay before he flies over to England and joins up with us in the run-up to the forthcoming season.
