U16s SJCF Review

UNDER 16s | The U16s end their festival week in fourth following three wins and one defeat.

Day 1 we posted 274 and bowled Ferring out for 132. A noteworthy 142* from Fin Roberts supported by 37 from Leo Fulbrook and 48 from Fin Oratis who also took 5 wickets with the ball!

Day 2 we played B&H who batted well to set 229 off 40 overs. At 58 for 4 we were looking a little off the pace, but a 175 partnership from Ollie Turner 67* and Fin Roberts 117* (pictured) got us home with a couple of overs to spare! Great team spirit and some very impressive cricket from the boys!

Day 3 we struggled to bowl Worthing out, but our economy was good and with the bat we chased down their 180 for the loss of just four wickets. Fifty again from Fin Oratis and then Fin Roberts won us the game with a six which also made it a hat-trick of tons for him to this point! 142*, 117* & 100*, all not out, so no average!

Day 4 we fell at the final hurdle, losing to Middleton. Having set 260-7 thanks to ANOTHER century from Fin Roberts, we struggled to take wickets and defend our total. Still a great week had by all and a pleasure to watch this bunch playing.

We finished fourth in the Bowl overall, a great achievement and Fin Roberts finished with 511 runs and an average of 511! Quite frankly a remarkable achievement!!

The SJCF week was finished off with a player and parent social plus awards night. Club caps were presented to the eight players (pictured) who’ve all represented our senior sides and the following won individual awards:

  • Batting: Fin Roberts

  • Bowling: Ollie Turner

  • Fielding: Leo Fulbrook

  • Coaches’ Player: Fin Oratis
