West Chiltington & Thakeham’s Jazmine Simmons is making waves in girls’ cricket!
At just 11 years old, Jazmine has become the newest ambassador for Maiden Cricket – a bold, female-led sportswear brand that’s shaking up the game.

Maiden Cricket was started in 2024 by Chichester sisters Honor and Cat Black, who were fed up with wearing cricket gear designed for boys. So, they created their own line of stylish, comfy, and practical kit just for girls – and it’s been a hit.
Jazmine joins a growing crew of Maiden Ambassadors – girls aged 8 and up who love cricket and want to help make it more inclusive and exciting for others. Hundreds applied, but Jazmine stood out thanks to her passion and talent.
She’s been playing since she was seven, inspired by watching her older brother Jacob. After getting tired of sitting on the sidelines, she jumped in – and now she’s a skilled all-rounder playing for West Chilts, already competing in U15 matches and part of the Sussex U11 county pathway.
“I wanted to be a Maiden Ambassador because I believe in the power of sport for girls,” Jazmine said. “Cricket has given me so much more confidence and discipline, and a brilliant group of friends too - I want other girls to have that experience.”
“I’m passionate about celebrating the great talent we have in girls’ cricket and being a role model who shows that this game is for everyone, not just the boys. Maiden Cricket is doing amazing work, creating a brand that we’re proud to be part of and allowing us to play in a kit that actually fits us.”
Cat Black, co-founder of Maiden Cricket, added: “At Maiden, we’re all about championing girls’ cricket by highlighting what a fantastic sport it is for building confidence and team spirit.
“We’ve already built a great community to help share our mission and it’s awesome to have Jazmine join the crew. There’s no doubt she’s going to crush it as a Maiden ambassador.”
