Newsletter - 25 April 2019

Dear Members and Friends of the Club,

Our 2019 season gets underway this weekend with warm up matches for our seniors, the Sussex Cricket Foundation 6-a-side final at Blackstone (postponed from the end of last season) and our first Friday night training session for our juniors.

Senior Cricket this Weekend

Please come and support our teams playing warm up matches at:

Southwater CC - Saturday 27th April 1pm - First XI

Billingshurst CC - Sunday 28th April 1.30pm - Third XI

Blackstone Cricket Academy - Sunday 28th April 1pm - Sussex Cricket Foundation 6-a-side Final

Junior Training (U5-14) starts tomorrow evening - Friday 26th April

Our boys and girls are due to start their training tomorrow evening. Just to remind you, the timings of these sessions are:

U5s – U8s 6-7pm

U9s – U11s and beginner Girls' Group 5.30-7pm

U12s – U14s and softball Women's session 7.15-8.45pm

The weather forecast is slightly dodgy. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel training we will put a message on the front page of the club website as early as possible during the afternoon.

If we go ahead the club bar will be open during the evening and burgers and hot dogs will be sizzling on the BBQ.

Opening Event for our Thakeham Ground - Friday 24th May

We are delighted to announce that we will be celebrating the opening of our new ground at Thakeham on Friday 24th May. We will be playing a 20/20 match from 2pm onwards vs. a Developers and Agents team (who have been involved in building our new facility). The match will finish by 5.30pm and in the evening we will have a hog roast, BBQ, Bar and Live Band in the new pavilion. Just for this particular evening junior coaching will be held at Thakeham (NOT West Chilt). Details about timings and format will follow soon. We hope as many members, families and friends of the club will come and celebrate with us during the day and into the evening.

Our brand new Thakeham ground pavilion!

Accommodation for our new overseas senior player Morne Louw

We are hoping to find a few families who would be willing to put Morne up for a few weeks during the Summer. Morne is 24 and joins us from Sinoville CC in Pretoria. He's arriving tomorrow and will be staying with Stephen, our Chairman, for a couple of weeks. He's able to drive and will have access to a car so he doesn't need to stay very close to the ground. Please let us know (by return email) if you have a spare room or annexe and would be willing for him to stay for a while. Many thanks.

Cleaner needed for our Thakeham Pavilion

We are looking to employ a cleaner for a couple of hours a week for our Thakeham Pavilion. If you know anyone who might be interested, please contact us by return email.
