Thakeham - Our new main Sponsor

The Club are very pleased and excited to announce that starting from next season leading local housebuilder and community creator, Thakeham, will become West Chiltington & Thakeham Cricket Club’s new main sponsor.

This is great news and on behalf of everyone at the club I would like to send enormous thanks to Thakeham for agreeing to sponsor the club.

However, I think it would be appropriate to firstly pass on a big word of thanks to Mansell McTaggart for all their fantastic and invaluable support over the last three years. Their generosity has enabled the club to develop and make investments that it would not have been possible without it.

And whilst they are stepping away for the forthcoming season it is hoped they will return and resume their involvement in the not-too-distant future.

However, with perfect and almost uncanny timing we are massively excited to announce and welcome Thakeham as the Club’s new and very generous sponsor.

I’m sure many of you are aware but Thakeham is already a great supporter of a number of other local sports clubs but it was only after meeting with CEO, Rob Boughton, did it become clear that although passionate about supporting sport in general, a key consideration in their decision to sponsor a club is how that club serves and engages with the local community and what it then does for junior sport specifically.

In the last 20 years and from humble beginnings our junior section has grown and developed enormously and now offers cricket for over 250 children.

With every age group from U5’s to U16’s accommodated, a rapidly developing Girls and Women’s section, winter indoor coaching for the keenest, Academy and Select Player Programmes for the most talented, a T20 team for those in a hurry, four senior league teams for the most competitive and a Sunday team for those who just want to play for fun, I believe the club has most bases covered, for the moment.

And whilst not the only consideration, there is no doubt what happens at the Recreation ground every Friday evening throughout the summer, when over 250 kids descend, makes an Impression and am sure helped enormously.

So, thank you to all involved.

We are an ambitious club and I hope I can speak on behalf of all members when I say to Rob and Thakeham “welcome on board and hope that, with your support, the club will continue to go from strength to strength and be able to tick off a lot more of its yet to be realised ambitions.”
